Wedding Policy - Printer Friendly

Your wedding is a sacred occasion. It will be most meaningful to you, your family and your friends when there is careful planning. For that reason, the following polices will govern your plans for your wedding here at First Baptist Church. We believe these policies to be the most suitable and practical for all concerned therefore there will be no exceptions. Please read them fully.

Set the Time of Your Wedding

Careful planning is necessary for ALL weddings. The date of your wedding will be secured at the time of payment. You must set the date in consultation with the Church Secretary. If at all possible, the wedding and rehearsal should be scheduled at least one month in advance. Please leave your phone number or the number of a contact person so the church can contact you if necessary.

Your Wedding Music

A church wedding is a service of the church and the music must be in keeping with the reverence that is observed when entering the House of the Lord. The bride should discuss with the Minister of Music what music she would like played. The Minister of Music will have final approval of all musical selections. All accompanists must also be approved by the Minister of Music. Soloists, if used, are responsible for contacting the accompanists.

Photographers

Discretion should be used when taking photographs during the ceremony.

Decorations

When candles are used they must be of either the drip less variety or the floor needs to be thoroughly protected.

Under NO circumstances will decorations be attached to the pews, walls, or other furniture by pinning, gluing or nailing.

When the church facility is used on Saturday night or Sunday afternoon all decorations and equipment will be removed from the building immediately following the wedding service.

The facility must be left “broom clean”.

Air conditioning or heating will be turned on at a reasonable time before your event.

Lighting / Audio / Video

If you need to use the sound system the Minister of Music will provide a audio technician. All audio equipment, including microphones, stands, mixer, church video equipment will be handled only by the audio technician. The technician will set up, take down and operate the equipment during the rehearsal and wedding. Under no circumstances will anyone other than the technician operate the church audio mixer. There is a fee for this service.

In addition, sanctuary lighting will also be handled by the technician.

Video of your wedding may be done by the church if you desire. Please see the list of fees.

Movement of Furniture

The pulpit and communion table may be moved as well as the choir chairs and other furniture on the platform. Please check with the church office before moving the pulpit. Platform furniture that has been moved should be replaced after the wedding.
